“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”- 1 Corinthians 12:12
In today’s verse the Apostle Paul uses the metaphor of the body. The body has many parts, but one part is not independent of the other. Your heart needs your brain to function, your arm needs muscle, and your leg needs your foot.
When it comes to the church it is much the same. There are many things that go into making a church run. The sad reality is about 10% of the people do about 90% of the work. We all have something to contribute. A gift that can be used to glorify God and advance his kingdom. Some may work on Sundays and feel that they are unable to contribute because of that. Many churches have online ministries today, and even if they do not you can volunteer your time to pray. You can teach children, watch children, help with sound, or almost anything else. If you have a passion for something then chances are there is something in the church that needs you. What is your gift? If you are not sure what your spiritual gift is there are multiple websites out there, such as spiritualgiftstest.com, that can aid you. Using your gift for the glory of God is an act of worship, and we all have something to contribute. How are you using your gift?
