“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
This is the time of year where we remember what we are thankful for. We thank God for our family, friends, jobs, and for bringing us through another year. It is something important for us to do considering everything that is going on in the world.
Today’s verse applies to us even when times are difficult. When someone we know has passed away are we to rejoice? We can rejoice in a life well lived, or in a change their life brought about in others. Are we to pray 24 hours a day? A simple prayer such as “Lord, help me to be an instrument of your love” or “Give me the words to say” are simple things we can do. The bottom line is that prayer is something that we need to do on a regular basis and the Apostle Paul is reminding us of that. Lastly, there is always something to be thankful for. The next breath we breath is a miracle in itself. Take some time today to remember everything you are thankful for. Have we taken the time to thank the Lord for all the blessings he has given us. Have we thanked him for what he did for us on the cross? That alone is something we can always rejoice about.
