“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.” – 1 Timothy 2:1

Today’s verse illustrates something important.  Something that a lot of us are very uncomfortable doing.  Paul tells us that we are to pray for all people.  Does Paul actually mean that we should pray for those we disagree with, those who oppose Christianity, and those who do evil?  Yes…Christ also said that we should pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44).

The task is difficult but must be done.  The bottom line is we will never fully know the impact that our prayers have.  Maybe the person we are praying for will turn out to be the next Billy Graham.  Everyone deserves prayer, and ho selfish are we if we withhold it?  Is there someone you should be praying for, but have not been obedient in the task?  All of us can answer that in the affirmative.  Do you want to change the world?  It starts with praying for those around us.  Even if we do not get along with them.
