“Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”- 2 Timothy 3:12

There are many people today who say that the Christian life is easy.  You will be blessed with health, prosperity, and you will be blessed beyond your wildest dreams.  Some will go so far as to say that all of your problems will disappear.  Today’s verse shows something different.  The Apostle Paul says that you will be persecuted, and these words echo the words of the Lord in John 15:18.

There is nothing wrong with prosperity, but selling the Gospel on that is unrealistic.  The early Christians lost everything for the Gospel, and Christians in the Middle East are losing their lives daily for it.  If we are Christians then we know we are heading to our heavenly home.  That gives us the hope to endure whatever the world has for us.  Our faith in Christ give us what we need to carry on.  An unbelieving world will always be hostile to the Gospel.  Does that mean we are hostile to an unbelieving world?  By no means!  Love those around you, and show them what being a Christian means.  As a Christian scripture promises that you will be persecuted at some point.  When this happens remember the words of Christ that He will never leave you or forsake you.
